Great book to have handy and consult any time a doubt arises Research based and amazing chapters especially, the chapter on baby wearing and also sleep The chapter on illness and accidents were very helpful. However, read critically, at least for these three things 1 For introducing solids, read Baby Led Weaning instead For a healthy development of baby s gross motor skills crawling, walking, etc read Emmi Pickler instead It is very important to let babies move on their own, and their own pace, and not have them do movements they are not yet ready to do on their own For example, don t try to teach babies to sit by propping them up Leave them on the floor, and when they ve developed the strength and balance, they will sit up.3 The book speaks of prizes and the whole family clapping and encouraging babies to do things like crawl Research on intrinsic and extrinsic motivation suggests this is not wise Everything works better when people do things I.e Crawl, etc because they want to intrinsic and it brings them joy and satisfaction When others try and give prizes or positive reinforcements, people can lose the joy and satisfaction, and also feel put on the spot and controlled by these well meaning others.

This is an excellent reference book, like having access to a doctor at all hours I tried reading it while pregnant but that was daunting and I didn t retain anything Now that baby is here, I pull it every few days to look things up and take a lot of comfort in having it I love that it s not just written from a trained medical perspective, but also by experienced parents It s like having doctor and nurse friends to call any time.

It s like my encyclopedia. With over 400 pages, you ll get all the knowledge stand point from here as a parent you ll probably read forums or opinions from online, of course. But honestly, this book sits on out front table and we even go through sections over again because of vast amount of topics There is a just a wealth of knowledge from this book.Totally worth the price

I was surprised at how big this book was, but even surprised at how easy it was to read The information is exactly what a new parent needs It answered so many of my questions, and I use it alot as a reference I read a few other baby books, The Baby Whisperer, Happiest Baby on the Block to name a few, and this one is the best Highly recommend

This book is actually terrible I thought because it was written by physicians that the information would be evidence based, but it was very much based on extremely out dated information and what worked for themselves as a family I would NOT recommend this book to anyone and am sadly disappointed that I actually spent money on this

If you are only going to buy one book about taking care of your little one, this should be the one This is not written by a researcher but by a mom and dad with a large family, a pediatrician and a nurse So practical It has kept me out of the doctors office and emergency than once

I am enjoying this book It is informative and you can take some advice or leave it It is pretty touchy feeling about newborns and child rearing I like it Pretty comprehensive on the major areas of babies feeding, sleeping, crying etc
